BOROUGH OF PROSPECT PARK MAYOR TO SIGN EXECUTIVE ORDER UPHOLDING EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE OF U.S. CONSTITUTION AND REITERATE MUNICIPALITY’S ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY IN THE WAKE OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S EXECUTIVE ORDER 

PROSPECT PARK, NJ, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2017, 4:43PM:

The Mayor of the Borough of Prospect Park, Mohamed T. Khairullah, will sign an Executive Order upholding the Municipality’s policy of anti-discrimination and continued commitment to provide equal municipal services to all residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender or immigration status. The Executive Order will be signed one week after the release of President Trump’s executive order limiting entry into the United States by individuals from a select list of countries.

Mayor Khairullah, who was born in Syria and fled as a child, arrived in the United States in 1991. After successfully running for office of Prospect Park councilman in 2001, he has remained a dedicated public servant, serving as Mayor for the past eleven years. In a recent statement, Khairullah said, “As an immigrant from a country ruled by a dictator, it is important to me that our Commander in Chief upholds the U.S. Constitution as the law of the land. The United States is a land of immigrants and refugees, including our founding fathers. It’s those immigrants and refugees who historically built our Country to the respected nation it is today.” 

The Executive Order will be signed Friday, February 3, 2017 at 4:43PM at the Prospect Park Municipal Building, 106 Brown Avenue, Prospect Park, NJ. *****
